No Frills Twins
There’s no two-ways about it; No Frills Twins aren’t your average duo. Lismore born, Sydney-based twins Vanessa and Arna Rogers have a look like no other and with a love of all things eccentric, colourful and a little off-the-wall, it’s no surprise that they’ve built an online following that sets them well ahead of their pop comrades.
With a recognised talent for having an edge to their pop song covers and creating dangerously addictive melodies of their own, No Frills Twins signed to Island Records/Universal Music in 2017 and have since released ‘Love Me Tender’ and ‘Lonely With You’ to huge online success. Their pre-label signing release ‘God Bless The Internet’ is still one of their most successful videos online.
It was in 2012 when No Frills Twins uploaded their first cover on YouTube - a spine-tingling version of Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift featuring The Civil Wars - that things really started to take off. A succession of covers followed but it was the twins’ cover of Iggy Azalea’s Fancy that caught the internet by storm and initiated their international following.
What followed was the recording of original songs, which saw the girls working with the Madden brothers, supporting The Veronicas and Sheppard, and dazzling the world with their costume and makeup - even Boy George endorsed their look in the God Bless The Internet clip on Twitter. The twins, who studied fashion and put together all their own outfits, had always loved clothes and thrift shopping but their obsession became an emotional outlet when they faced a tough time in school.
Already with an astonishing number of fans online - 375k on Facebook and more than 68k on Instagram – No Frills Twins have amassed over 8.6 million video views on their YouTube channel.
